I want to thank Hazzan Ike Azose of Seattle for forwarding me the following link about Israel’s shale/gas potential in the Shfela. It was published in the second week of June in the Financial Post and I missed it:
You may want to cross-reference the following verses from the 8th chapter of Devarim that speak of the bounty of the Land of Israel:
Safeguard the commandments of HaShem your Lord, so that you will walk in His ways and remain in awe of Him.
HaShem your Lord is bringing you to a good land – a land with flowing streams, and underground springs gushing out in valley and mountain.
It is a land of wheat, barley, grapes, figs and pomegranates – a land of oil-olives and honey- dates .
It is a land where you will not eat rationed bread, and you will not lack anything – a land whose stones are iron, and from whose mountains you will quarry copper.
When you eat and are satisfied, you must therefore bless HaShem your Lord for the good land that He has given you.
